Meet Dr. Angela Lachowski
Dr. Lachowski is a Clinical Psychologist providing virtual psychological services to adults anywhere within Ontario. She specializes in assessment and treatment of a wide range of disorders such as anxiety and depression, adult ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), grief and loss, challenges with fertility, and navigating life stressors and transitions. In addition to these concerns, Dr. Lachowski specializes in CBT for insomnia, the gold-standard evidence-based treatment approach for insomnia. She provides training and supervision to a variety of clinicians who aim to provide CBT for insomnia to their own clients.
Dr. Lachowski received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). She has worked and trained in a number of programs such as Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (Severe Mental Illness and Concurrent Disorders programs), St. Joseph’s Healthcare’s Women’s Health Concerns Clinic and Mood Disorders programs, and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto.
In session, Dr. Lachowski’s therapeutic style is warm and empathic, driven by evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and emotion-focused therapy. Research shows us time and again that the therapeutic relationship is essential to treatment success, so Dr. Lachowski concentrates on building a strong, nonjudmental, relaxed dynamic with her clients.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who go through medical school and complete additional training in the practice of psychiatry. Usually, the focus of psychiatry is on diagnostic assessment and medication or other biological management of mental health symptoms.
Psychologists hold an advanced degree in psychology (Ph.D.) and must also meet rigorous standards to qualify for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. Psychologists have the highest level of training to assess and therapeutically treat mental health conditions, and must also adhere to professional standards of care to maintain a professional license to practice. Psychologists specialize in therapeutic treatment and do not proscribe medication.
Counselors may have received some training in mental health, but they are not regulated health professionals and therefore do not have to adhere to professional or legal standards of care in the provision of services.
